Gates of Hell

The monumental sculpture by Auguste Rodin.

“Abandon all hope, ye who enter here” — The phrase that appears on The Gates of Hell

The Gates of Hell is the physical link between the mortal realm (that is to say the living world) and Hell itself. This is the second level of the game, where Dante meets Virgil for the first time and uses an Asterian Beast to open the gates into Limbo. Here he also meets the minor demons and tormented shades.

  • Interestingly enough, Charon recites some of these lines.
  • The Gates of Hell in the game are modeled directly off the famous "Gates of Hell" sculpture by the French artist Auguste Rodin.
